Why we started Flossy.

I have had dogs for as long as I can remember. Strays we took in off the street, dogs we brought home from shelters. And I remember how their mouths got worse year after year. The breath first. Then the hesitating when they ate because it hurt.

The last of them was Zuki. By the end her gums were inflamed and her teeth were in bad shape. Her kidneys failed and she passed. I will never know for sure whether the two things were related. What I do know is that we never once had her teeth cleaned, and the reason was simple. I did not know I was supposed to.

I know now. That is why Flossy exists.

We started it because none of us could find a good way to keep up. We did the research and the advice was clear. Plaque hardens into tartar constantly, and tartar needs to come off regularly. But following that advice was the hard part. Cleaning meant planning well ahead, driving across town, leaving your dog for the day, and paying enough that most owners quietly decided to wait until next year. So the cleaning that should have happened at least twice a year happened once every few years, if it happened at all, while the tartar kept building.

We thought the upkeep should be easy enough to actually keep up with. So we built Flossy around three things. It comes to you, it is priced so you can do it on schedule instead of putting it off, and it is gentle, so the next one is easier to schedule.

Kyra brings years of hands-on animal care experience and a passion for pet oral health. At home, she enjoys cuddling with her cat, Lola.

jaela

Jaela brings years of dental experience and a background in animal science. She grew up around dogs and loves combining both passions.

What Fear Free Certified Means

Fear Free is an independent certification in gentle, low-stress animal handling. The training is about reading a pet's body language and working at their pace, so the visit goes as well as it can for the dog or cat in front of us. Every member of our dental cleaning team is Fear Free Certified before they work an appointment on their own.
